Welcome to the homepage of RidgeRunner Kennels! RidgeRunner Kennels is a family owned and operated kennel located in the southwestern Virginia town of Haysi. We are proud to raise these "Old Fashioned Redbones".We pride ourselves in raising these dogs with the same appearance, temperment, and hunting abilities that were expected of the breed when they were first introduced. Our dogs are dark in appearance, big eared, bawl mouthed, cold nosed hunters, and easy tempered. Whether you are looking for a companion, hunting buddy, or a gift then you have come to the right site.
We started RidgeRunner Kennels in December of 2003 and are looking to make a name for ourselves. My father and I started this kennel when I recently began to coonhunt and were unable to find a good dog at a reasonable price. I remember that before my uncle had passed away how he used to raise Redbones, so I began to look for some of these dogs. I located a female in Campbellsville, KY and a male in Oak Hill, OH. Both of these dogs are "Old Fashioned". Now I know that color does not determine what type of personality or hunting ability the dog will have, but the dark colors do produce a beautiful dog.
After purchasing these dogs I realized I have made a great investment. These dogs are very loyal, well behaived, beautiful, and good hunters. I have two small children and these dogs are very well behaived around them. So take a look at our site and see what you think of these dogs.
